God’s Plan Of Salvation
Admit You Have Sinned
“For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)
Only a person without sin can go to Heaven. No amount of works can cleanse a sinner from their sin. It is important to recognize your sin has separated you from God and that you are guilty of offending a Holy God who is without sin.
Realize the Severe Consequence for Sin
“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)
Just as man demands punishment for crime, God demands a punishment for sin. The penalty for sin is eternal damnation in a literal, physical place called Hell. This is where the souls of sinners go after death. As a sinner, this is exactly where you will go when you die.
Believe Jesus Christ Died for Your Sins
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)
God does not want your soul to go to Hell, so He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to make payment for your sins. He lived a perfect life without sin and died to purchase your soul with His blood. This is the only acceptable payment for your sins, and it is the only way you can get right with God.
Trust in the Blood of Jesus Christ to Save You
“In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins.” (Colossians 1:14)
“In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise.” (Ephesians 1:13)
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13)
You cannot save yourself, but you can trust in the righteousness of Jesus Christ to save you. This means you have to accept what He did for you as payment for your sins. You do this through faith by trusting that His blood is the payment for your sins. This gift is something you must receive by faith and you can do this by turning to God in prayer.
Example Of A Salvation Prayer
It is important to realize what saves you is your faith in Jesus Christ. Prayer is just talking to God. If you honestly believe and trust in the blood of Jesus Christ as payment for your sins, you might pray something like this:
“Dear God, I confess I am a sinner and I do not want to go to Hell and spend eternity away from you. I believe and trust in the blood of Jesus Christ as payment for my sins. I believe you resurrected Him from the dead, and that you are able to save me. Thank you for this wonderful gift. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
